Dogs of Mention
Radius Aerhart was purchased from a reputable and ethical breeder of health tested and titled working line German Shepherds in 2021. The goal was for her to produce some lovely working line GSDs with Aero. Unfortunately by the time she was six months old it was clear she likely had hip dysplasia. Both of her parents have good hips and elbows, and her breeder would never purposely breed lines with histories of dysplasia. This was one of those things in breeding where you can health test and do your best to produce sound and healthy puppies, have many litters before with clear hips, and still end up with a fluke of a pup. Creation of life is an ever-evolving process. Her upbringings', genetics, and nutrition were all correct she just got the short end of the genetic draw.
However, Radius (aka Bambino) has an amazing temperament and disposition. At about a year of age, I discovered she was alerting to my high blood pressure. Knowing that Bambino is a working dog that needs to work, but is more limited due to her hip dysplasia, I contacted Nine Realms Canine Training to see if I could train her as my service dog. I also checked with my vet to ensure she would be okay continuing an active life as a part time service dog, with no jumping, or constant running/walking. They both agreed it would be good for her mentally and physically to have some low impact work.
With Bambino, I have learned so much about service dogs, their training, and all that they can do. We are both enjoying the training and work. I look forward to a long wonderful life with her!
